As a married woman of almost 30 years, I found this book intriguing and validating of my long term relationship with my husband. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to deepen and reflect upon any current relationship or is seeking a meaningful and lasting partner. It is a delightful read, packed with beautiful real life examples that bring the theories to life. Thank you, Remi, for sharing your wisdom and insight.
I enjoyed reading The Love Equation very much. It was very well written. The tips on how to succeed in a marriage were very holistic and caused me to exam my own views. I wish everyone, especially young adults would read the book. In this fast paced society, the book reminds us to get to know yourself first, clarify my own vision of a great relationship, then work on finding a right person. It is important to take some time to get to know the person before jumping to a conclusion of marriage. Thank you for writing the book.
The author is a bonafide Frenchman! I didn't expect to get much out of it since I'm already married, but this is like a guide to becoming a gentlemen...it's been so long I've must have forgotten. Very practical, easy to implement tips which have already helped me score some points with the wife. Heck, here's hoping it keeps the marriage strong!
I quickly became immersed in this book for several reasons. First, it was beautifully written in a style that puts you right there with Remi as he relates his life experiences with Sophie. Secondly, the European background to the story throughout the first part of the book really adds to the romantic theme and prepares the reader for the second part of the book, which is somewhat less of a story and focuses more on the nuts and bolts of a relationship. The tips and information offered throughout the book are valuable for anyone, whether you're already in a happy relationship, or not in a relationship at all. I must admit, I don't often read books like this, but I was pleasantly surprised with how interesting I found The Love Equation and would recommend it as really good reading material for everyone.
French has long been considered “la langue d’amour” (the language of love) and where better to learn the art of love and relationship than from a book written by a Frenchman? Remi Gardanne is not only a Frenchman, but he has been happily married for over 20 years, which is the real mark of success in the area of love. He has analyzed the aspects of what has made his marriage so successful and shared them with us in his book The Love Equation A Frenchman Reveals the Secret to Lasting Love.
He writes with great clarity, so that even a very shy person could follow his recommendations and find lasting love. His writing style is laced with French expressions and reminiscences from his life in France, so any Francophile would enjoy reading his book. The only suggestion I would have to make it better would be for Remi to read his book on audio so that we could listen to it with his French accent. Oh, la la!
The Love Equation is a very informative guide to love and marriage. I’m a bit skeptical though whether the young people will take the time to implement any of these very wise and practical methods to picking the right spouse. I’ve been married for 29 years and have two children in their early twenties. From what I have seen in the United States, the term “gentleman” is apparently losing it’s meaning. I don’t think many people want to put forth any effort into a relationship and marriage is no longer a priority. It appears that they just assume it will only end in divorce anyway. Respect is a waning attribute in my opinion, so how can you progress to marriage without respect, at a minimum?
All of that being said, I did enjoy The Love Equation and felt it was well written and very informative. I’m happy to see that a marriage was put together, and lasts, using these particular techniques. I think the world could have used this book many years ago and I hope many will use it now. 4 1/2 Stars
